Definition: PRINCIPLE 9 - Work Practically and Sustainably

Working practically means not continuing outdated, slow, and inefficient work practices when more effective alternatives exist. If AI can assist with or automate a manual task, that task should be AI-assisted. There is no virtue in doing manually what AI does faster and better. Working sustainably means building the human rhythms that make accelerated AI-era delivery durable over time. AI does not need breaks, does not experience cognitive fatigue, and does not risk burnout. Humans do. Sustainable work practice accounts for the fundamental difference between how AI operates and how humans operate—and designs workflows accordingly.
