Definition: PRINCIPLE 20 - Grow by Experimenting with New Tools, New Roles, and New Ways
By Tom Onquit
Growth in the AI era is not primarily a training event. It is a practice. The teams and individuals who develop the strongest AI-era capability do so by deliberately putting themselves in contact with new tools, new role configurations, and new ways of working—and then reflecting honestly on what those experiments revealed. They treat a workflow that did not perform as expected not as a failure but as data. They treat a new role that felt uncomfortable not as a misassignment but as an edge worth developing toward.
This principle asks every person and every team to make experimentation a recognized, protected, and rewarded part of how work gets done—not a bonus activity reserved for slack capacity, but a core discipline embedded in daily and weekly rhythms.
