Flexible: ATTRIBUTE 8 - Flexible
By Tom Onquit
One of the most significant things AI has changed in knowledge work is the relationship between job title and work capability. With a well-designed prompt and a capable AI assistant, almost anyone can now generate a credible first draft of a report, a code function, a design framework, a risk analysis, or a customer communication. The title-to-output lock that once governed who could produce what is dissolving.
WEEFAI is flexible in response to exactly that change. Rather than locking outputs to titles — only developers write code, only analysts produce analyses, only designers create designs — the framework defines three AI-era roles that any qualified team member can fill based on the work at hand: Planner, Producer, and Accepter.
This flexibility reduces bottlenecks without weakening accountability. The fact that anyone with the right framing and tooling can produce a credible draft does not mean that anyone should accept it. Acceptance still requires explicit criteria, domain context, and earned authority. WEEFAI keeps those requirements visible and explicit — which is precisely what allows the production side to be flexible without the quality side becoming permissive.
Flexible roles also broaden genuine opportunity. People who previously had no path into certain kinds of work because they lacked a specific title now have a path through the Producer role and, with deliberate development, into the Accepter role. The framework respects the experience that titles often signal — but it does not pretend that titles are the only signal, or that the old signals still map cleanly onto the new realities AI has created.
Flexibility is not a concession to the ambiguity AI creates. It is the appropriate design response to it. The framework that insists on fixed roles in a world where AI has already dissolved them is not protecting quality. It is protecting the past.
