Connection to Value: Efficiency with Grace
By Tom Onquit
This principle is the grace in Efficiency with Grace made tangible. The work value defines grace as treating people with respect, patience, and fairness while pursuing efficiency gains—and explicitly states that efficiency is not achieved at the expense of dignity. Rewarding workers for the efficiency they deliver, the retraining they undertake, and the new responsibilities they absorb is the concrete expression of that commitment. Without meaningful rewards, the organization extracts value from workers while offering nothing in return for their increased contribution.
