Modern: ATTRIBUTE 2 - Modern
By Tom Onquit
The most common failure mode in work framework design is designing for a world that no longer fully exists. Frameworks inherit the assumptions of the context that produced them. Those assumptions rarely announce themselves. They hide inside the default cadences, the role definitions, the ceremony structures, and the metric choices that were reasonable when the framework was written — and that gradually stop fitting as conditions change.
Many of the frameworks in widest use today were designed before high-speed internet was ubiquitous, before real-time collaboration platforms existed, before generative AI was a planning assumption. As a result, they tend to underestimate both the speed and the capability at which knowledge work can now be delivered. Their language assumes specialists must own specialist outputs. Their cadences assume tasks take days. Their metrics assume that throughput — generating more work — is the primary bottleneck.
WEEFAI is modern in the direct sense: it assumes today’s reality and designs from there. It assumes distributed teams using real-time collaboration tools. It assumes AI-augmented work that routinely completes in hours rather than weeks or days. It assumes continuous, daily, delivery rhythms rather than two-week sprint cycles. It assumes flexible role fulfillment rather than rigid title-based contribution.
These are not exotic or speculative assumptions. They describe the conditions most knowledge work is already performed under. WEEFAI simply takes those conditions seriously as the starting point of framework design rather than as edge cases to be accommodated after the fact. The result is a framework whose ceremonies fit, whose cadences match, and whose governance architecture is calibrated to the pace it is actually governing.
